The historic gold mining town of Walhalla is a short drive from Silvertop cottages and has something for everyone:

- Ride the Gold Fields Railway along Stringers Creek Gorge between Thomson River and Walhalla.
- Walk the tramways and tracks formed by the timber cutters to access the timber from the hills which helped build Melbourne and feed the local mines.
